The Rainbow Race app and course are educational and creative ways to entertain young children during Covid-19
Covid-19 inspired LWE to create The Rainbow Race course, which is sold separate from the app. It contains the storybooks, their discussion pages, and its “Certificate of Completion” that is the reward for finishing the race. This certificate is authentically signed by the author, Stella Gain and has a space for a child’s name and another adult’s signature, as a way to show a child that their accomplishment of finishing the 7 books (or the race) was important and is now official. This certificate also has words of affirmation on it, and can be a reminder to stay positive no matter what, which is its message. The course is aimed toward children who are 2 to 7 years old. In the course the storybooks are tangible with a child being able to turn the pages alongside an adult. This makes quality time a richer bonding experience that can be invaluable toward a young child’s successful development. The certificate has an authentic author’s signature, and the course’s package is sold in our on-line store. This package does not include The Rainbow Race bonuses.
We created this course, when we heard that we would have to stay at home for many months. We wondered about little kids who had nothing to do all day. This simple course is a fun way to keep a child occupied, while an adult can keep them company and help them to achieve future success by spending quality time with them.
During the last part of the production of The Rainbow Race app, we heard about Covid-19. We became distressed because Taliana, one of The Rainbow Race kids, had moved to Italy and was suddenly ordered to “stay at home.” Then we heard about thousands of Italians passing. We hoped for the best for Taliana and her family, while the heartbreaking news was a daily focus in the U.S. as the pandemic grew and grew.
IWe had no idea that besides Italy, this pandemic would also hit the US and the UK so terribly, as well as all the other countries around the world. The only inspiration we could see out there were the rainbow drawings and paintings painted by little children all around the world. This inspirational effort actually began in Italy, but Taliana had already been inspired by the rainbow in The Rainbow Race years ago. When we contacted her she said she was keeping positive, which helped her to feel safe.
Little children in Italy were writing statements of encouragement on these rainbows, “Tutta Andre Bene,” (everything’s gonna be alright), Il sole splendera presto (the sun will be shining soon). These acts of love spread to the UK and the rest of Europe with statements such as, “Brighter days are ahead,” “After the storm comes brighter days,” “Spread hope and positivity,” and “Ca Va Aller” (it will be fine). Soon after, we saw them in the US and we recognized moreover that rainbows have a way of bringing peace and hope to people everywhere. Suddenly seeing all these rainbows painted by little children was a special sign to us to complete The Rainbow Race asap! Little children use the rainbow as their symbol of hope, which also happens to be the goal of The Rainbow Race.
LWE made The Rainbow Race into a tangible course a child can take with a parent at home. It comprises of the 7 books and discussion pages. These 2 activities are the main features of this product that enlighten children with positive awareness. This can also be a fun Christmas gift to spend quality time with a child. It has the same concept as The Rainbow Race App except it will also contain a “Certificate of Completion” personally and authentically signed by the author Stella Gain. These little children used their rainbows to bring hope to the essential workers, who are now the real heroes of the world. What would we do without these brave and honorable people? It is sad that many people do not follow the simple but vital recommendations of wearing facemasks and keeping their distance; as one of the main reasons for this request is to help save the essential workers! These very special people are working day in and day out at their own peril to save our family members and friends, and us. Wearing facemasks and social distancing vastly lowers the risk of spreading coronavirus, relieving the essential workers… especially in hospitals! It’s incomprehensible why certain people do not adhere to this simple and humane form of prevention, particularly when they refuse to listen in front of children, who need to be led by example.
Nevertheless, the devastation of Covid-19 can be turned around for our children’s good. Since this deadly virus hit the world, children have shown us that they have the insight to stay positive in difficult times by using the rainbow as their symbol. This is an innate strength that they already seem to possess. Adults can use this strength to encourage children to become aware in other areas of their lives. Since certain factors have been discovered with people who contract Covid-19, i.e., overweight people are more liable to be affected more seriously; we can use Covid-19 as a means to encourage our children to live healthy lives. Book 1 of The Rainbow Race and its discussion page encourages a young child to eat in moderation and exercise in order to live a healthy life. We believe young children are more apt to listen after witnessing the ravages of Covid-19 for themselves.
No matter what, we can all help to beat this invisible enemy by showing our love of one another. We can do this by helping to keep one another safe – physically, mentally and emotionally – especially through these dark times. Our little children are watching us, and how we handle adversity. We hope The Rainbow Race app will change lives by guiding future generations to choose to stay positive…whatever comes their way.
