Use this time to ask your child questions about the story, encourage them to tell you what they think, and help them talk about how they feel. For children under five, these simple conversations can help develop communication, confidence, emotional awareness, and important social skills as they learn how to express themselves and relate to others.

Keep the Conversation Going

Each of the seven books has its own discussion page here in Ready-Set-Go.

These pages are designed to help you talk a little more about the lesson in each story and give your child another opportunity to understand and remember what they have learned. Think of it as the beginning of their own make-believe race through life — helping them get off to a good start with lessons and habits that can stay with them as they grow.

A Special Finish Line

After completing all seven books, your child will have the opportunity to receive their very own Certificate of Completion. The certificate celebrates something very important: finishing what they started.

It can encourage children to keep going, try their best, never give up, and feel proud of completing something from beginning to end. These are wonderful habits to begin developing before they start school.

You can frame the certificate and place it somewhere special in your home as a reminder of everything your child has learned throughout The Rainbow Race. The certificate also includes positive words of affirmation connected to the lessons in the seven stories. Whenever your child is having a difficult moment, you can return to those words together and remind them of something they learned during The Rainbow Race.

Little Lessons That Can Last a Lifetime

Through the stories, songs, and discussions, The Rainbow Race encourages children to develop healthy habits for both their minds and bodies. Along the way, they can learn that they can make positive choices instead of reacting negatively. It works out better for them in the end to:

• make healthy choices
• respect others
• share their true feelings

• be accountable
• be a true friend
• build confidence/self-esteem
• finish what they start

These are little lessons for today that can help prepare children for school, friendships, and the bigger race of life ahead. Every book brings them one step further along the race. Every conversation gives them another chance to learn. And every lesson is designed to help give them a good start that can last a lifetime.
